Henry Ford Ranked as Top Integrated Health System in Michigan
DETROIT - Henry Ford Health System has been ranked as the top integrated health care system in Michigan. The annual survey, published in Modern Healthcare magazine, ranked Henry Ford as 11th nationally and first in Michigan. The annual ranking of the top 100 health care systems is based on evaluating performance and degree of integration.
Leading integrated health care systems like Henry Ford have learned to merge and blend leadership and technology, reduce waste in operations and have doctors and hospitals who work together guided by the same mission, vision, and principles. Part of integrated care includes coordination of patient care among specialists and referring doctors to deliver seamless care and to prevent errors during transitions in all care settings.
The ratings system evaluates each hospital network's ability to operate as a unified organization in eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization, and physicians.
The rating was performed by SDI, a healthcare market insight and analytics firm, headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
Henry Ford Health System, one of the country's largest health care systems, integrates primary and specialty care with research and education. It includes six owned or affiliated hospitals, a 500,000 member health maintenance organization and 27 ambulatory centers. The health system had revenues of nearly $4 billion in 2009, with more than 2.1 million outpatient visits and nearly 100,000 hospital admissions.
